Detailed description of Pebble Beach Golf Links -Golf Links

Pebble Beach Golf Links -Golf Links, is a Resort, 18 hole golf course located in Pebble Beach, California.

Pebble Beach Golf Links first opened for play in 1919. The course was designed by Jack Neville and Douglas Grant.

Pebble Beach Golf Links has been ranked as the #1 Public Course in America by numerous golf magazines and writers multiple times..

Pebble Beach Golf Links hugs the rugged coastline, providing wide-open vistas, cliffside fairways and sloping greens. The ocean-side beauty and unique challenge of Pebble Beach Golf Links has thrilled golfers and spectators alike. Pebble Beach has been the site of golf's most prestigious tournaments, including the annual AT&T Pebble Beach National Pro-Am, the 1972, '82, '92, 2000 and 2010 U.S. Open Championships won by Graeme McDowell. Pebble Beach will continue to host a PGA Tour and Champions Tour event each season leading up to the 2019 U.S. Open, the 100th anniversary of this Jack Neville design.

Pebble Beach Golf Links also includes chipping and putting greens and the Peter Hay Par-Three Golf Course and practice range. The Golf Shop and first tee are located directly across from The Lodge at Pebble Beach. Many contend that there is no better stretch of golf holes than holes 7-9 along the cliffs at Pebble Beach Golf Links.

In 1999, an ownership group that included Eastwood, Palmer and former MLB commissioner Peter Ueberroth, purchased the Pebble Beach Company for $820 million.

Black tees: Par-72, 6,828 yards, course rating 74.3, slope rating 144.

Blue tees: Par-72, 6,737 yards, course rating 73.8, slope rating 142.

Gold tees: Par-72, 6,348 yards, course rating 72.3, slope rating 137.

Yes, it's expensive, but it is Pebble! This was my first visit, and the course was in excellent shape, despite Cal's drought conditions. Greens were quick and smooth rolling, fairways were in great shape with a few small brown spots here and there. Caddies really knew there stuff, and I kept my score in the low 90’s...better than I expected. I've played better conditioned courses, but none with the history and vistas you get with Pebble.

Would travel: 120-300 Miles, Vacation Worthy
Bottom line: I would play again, Expensive and worth it

Very disappointed in Pebble Beach experience. Very much overpriced for what the course is. Spyglass and Spanish Bay were better maintained, better layout and better views.

Shot 90 with a caddie, it was raining and windy. If I had played without a caddie it would have been a long long day and at least 20 shots worse. If you pay for a caddie, you got to listen to what they recommend. The other threesome would just go with their gut and not listen, which is why they all shot well over 100. Either way it was well worth the experience!

Golf Nirvana! Lived up to all expectations although very expensive! Almost died and went to heaven... caddy Ralph was great, scratch golfer himself, read the greens beautifully, told story of Jack himself declaring number 8 his favorite hole ever, just an incredible day. Hit one into rocks on 18 and it bounced onto grass. Pretty cool.

I would never pay to play Pebble. I finally got my chance to play last month after winning a raffle at a charity auction. My son and I had a caddy and walked the course. This is highly recommended...walking in the same fairways as many famous pros and celebrities have done. Both the greens and fairways were fair, much more playable than US Open conditions. It was a great round of golf! Will play again as guest or if the price was half the usual $450.

What can you say? It is overpriced and pace of play is atrocious. Nevertheless, unless you have played it, you have not lived as a golfer. It is steeped in history and every hole has a story. MOST IMPORTANT!!!- Get a very early morning tee time. Tee off before 8 a.m. and you can play in under 5 hours. Tee off later and you are destined for a round over 6 hours. It will however be some of the best 6 hours you have ever spent.

Overpriced, but one of those that you have to play at least one time. Fantastic views. So much history, it's like playing golf at a museum. Having played a month or so before the Open, it made it so much more enjoyable to watch the tournament.

One of the best courses I have ever played, even though they want top dollar for it. If you ever get a chance to play it, don't let the $$$ be a factor in not. Go for it!!

The reason for playing this course is the legends that were made there and the beauty of the ocean setting. Spanish Bay and Spyglass are better courses. You have to play Pebble once in your lifetime and for that it is worth the steep price you'll have to pay. After that, well, there are hundreds of other courses that are better values and more worthy of your time and money.

There is no question that the cost to play this course is way too high, but having said that, and also having played literally hundreds of the best golf courses in the country, this is a must-play golf course for anyone who has ever played the game of golf. Having played courses like Augusta National, Riviera, dozens of the Myrtle Beach tracks and many, many others, Pebble Beach is my favorite course in the entire world, so while it is priced too high, anyone who plays golf needs to bite the bullet at least once and give themselves the treat of a lifetime.

While most everyone talks about the 7th hole (and it is beautiful) the Par-4 eighth is one of the best holes in all of golf.

After 2 days of light rain the fairways were a bit soggy indicating poor drainage. The Greens neither fast or slow, and yes Tiger, a bit bumpy, Whatdya want for $475.? The view, more spectacular than TV. To play the same course that virtually all great golfers from the 40's on including many well known celebrities have played plus the breathtaking scenery is worth it. I'll play it again, I hope.

For the money paid, pace of play was horrendous...5 and 1/2 hours to play a round of golf is ridiculous. Why cart paths only....definitely slows up play!
