Detailed description

Ojai Valley Inn Golf Course is a resort, 18 hole golf course located in the foothills 90 minutes north of Los Angeles in Ojai, California. p> Ojai Valley Inn Golf Course opened for play in 1923. The course was designed by George C. Thomas Jr. and William P. Bell. Jay Morrish made the layout considerably more challenging with renovations in 1988. Ten years later, two holes from the original Thomas/Bell layout that were lost during a redesign following WWII were completely restored and incorporated into the layout.

Ojai has it all: a golf course that's brimming with history, sumptuously appointed rooms and suites, a spa, and a 220-acre location with sprawling Spanish Colonial-style architecture. Ojai Valley Inn & Spa Golf Course is one of California's first great courses. Over the decades that the course has been open, it has hosted a number of professional players and celebrities ranging from Arnold Palmer to Will Smith. The challenging golf course is very narrow in some spots and it features undulating greens that putt fast and true. The layout is not particularly long but it requires accuracy and proper club selection in order to score well.

Par for the course is 70. From the back tees the course plays to 6,305 yards. From the forward tees the course measures 5,244 yards. The longest hole on the course is # 6, a par-5 that plays to 562 yards. The shortest hole on the course is # 12, a par-3 that plays to 115 yards from the back tees.

Watch out for # 9, a 442 yard par-4 challenge and the #1 handicap hole on the course. The easiest hole at Ojai Valley is # 12, the 115 yard par-3.

At 6,305 yards, the Ojai Country Club course won't break you with length, but the quirky track does require strategic shot selections. Given its manageable yardage, the course is exceptionally playable from any set of tees, but the standout hole is a real brute — the visually intimidating 203-yard 16th, which requires a full carry over several daunting bunkers.
