Detailed description

Del Rio Country Club is a Private, 27 hole golf course facility in Modesto, California. The facility has three, 9-hole courses. They are: The Bluff. The River, and The Oak Course. These 9-hole courses can be combined to make 3 different 18-hole golf courses, Bluff/River, Bluff/Oak, River/Oak.

The original 18-holes, The Bluff Nine and The Oak Nine opened for play in 1946. The course was designed by William P. Bell.

The River Course at the Del Rio Country Club plays to a par-36 and a maximum distance of 3,467 yards. River golf course opened in 1997. Architect Robert Muir Graves whose work includes Sea Ranch and Black Butte designed the River Nine which borders the Stanislaus River. After many years of negotiations with government officials and environmentalists over the plight of the valley elderberry long-horned beetle, this 150 acre combination of riparian habitat and golf course was constructed.

In 1998 architect John Harbottle, who has overseen reconstruction efforts at Los Angeles Country Club and Stanford Golf Course design and supervised reconstruction of all tees, greens and bunkers on William Bell's 18-hole layout. Harbottle also redesigned the #9 Bluff hole in 2002.
