Detailed description

Wilshire Country Club is a Private 18 hole golf course located in the Hancock Park area of Los Angeles, California.

Wilshire Country Club golf course opened in 1919. The course was designed by Norman Macbeth. The course was rennovated in 2009 by Kyle Phillips.

The course is known for its gorgeous greens, but the maintenance of the entire course is outstanding as well. A "no cell-phone" policy is enforced everywhere but the parking lot and the dress code is also strictly enforced. The course is beautiful, with a natural stream running through it and tree-lined fairways, providing not only scenic views but also a challenging game. One of the most well designed and maintained courses in Southern California, even though it is private it would be worth it to try to get an invite from a member.

Wilshire, throughout the years, has hosted many great tournaments and groups such as the LA Open, the Senior PGA and the LPGA. The course remains a wonderful testament to great course design and remains one of Southern California's golf gems.

Par for the course is 71. From the back tees the course plays to 6531 yards. From the forward tees the course measures 6,008 yards and plays to a par-74. The longest hole on the course is # 16, a par-5 that plays to 555 yards. The shortest hole on the course is # 7, a par-3 that plays to 142 yards from the back tees.

Watch out for # 6, a 436 yard par-4 challenge and the #1 handicap hole on the course. The easiest hole at Wilshire Country Club is # 10, a 155 yard par-3.
