About Cimarron Golf Club, Boulder Course

Cimarron Golf Resort is a public 36-hole golf facility located in Cathedral City, California. The facility has two 18-hole courses. The are the Boulder Course and The Pebble Course.

Cimarron Golf Resort opened for play in 2000. The courses were designed by John Fought.

The Boulder Course, also known as The Cimarron Long Course, plays to a par-71. From the back tees the course plays to 6,858 yards. From the forward tees the course measures 5,127 yards. The longest hole on the course is # 3, a par-5 that plays to 590 yards. The shortest hole on the course is # 5, a par-3 that plays to 159 yards from the back tees.

Watch out for # 2, a 440 yard par-4 challenge and the #1 handicap hole on the course. The easiest hole at The Boulder Course is # 15, a 339 yard par-4.

Cimarron, named after the vibrant purple flower, also means "wild and untamed". Enhancing the stark beauty of the native desert, the Cimarron courses use European-style characteristics such as sod-wall bunkers filled with white crushed marble against the creative contouring of the emerald fairways.

This challenging but friendly resort layout provides a great test for the lower handicappers but a rewarding experience for the weekend players. The Boulder Course offers four sets of tees that make it fun for players of all abilities.

The Pebble Course, also known as The Cimarron Short Course, plays to a par-56 and measures 3,164 yards from the back tees.

The Pebble Course was recently voted the Top Shorter Length Course in California. If you are looking to hit every club in your bag, finish an 18 hole round in 3 hours and have plenty of energy left to enjoy the rest of the day, the Pebble Course is for you. The Pebble course is very popular with couples, juniors and skins games, not to mention that you have 17 chances to make a hole in one.

This was my first time playing an Palm Springs area course, so can't really compare to others courses in the area. This is a links style course and was in fairly good condition. The greens were nice and rolled true, but deceptively slow. The fairways were green and well manicured for the most part. However, the course really lacked any ambiance and personality. The fairways were fairly straight and flat for the most part, bunkers sprinkled in on most holes. Only a few trees on the course and one or 2 holes with water. Not the most challenging course around for sure. All in all, not a bad track and worth the price of admission.

Would travel: 0-10 Miles, Not Vacation Worthy
Bottom line: Fair priced based on quality and competitive area pricing

Have played this course several times. Nice layout, great staff, BUT the pace of play is HORRIBLE. Have never played a round on this course in less than 4 and one half hours. There is never more than one ranger on the course.

Very nice links style course. Overall experience was super especially for only $20 after 2pm. Im an average golfer and finished 18 and played 9 more in about 3 hours.

Course condition is awesome. Highly recomended. If you can stand the heat (no trees Links layout) you will love this course.

Would travel: 30-60 Miles, Vacation Worthy
Bottom line: I would play again, Better than average course for the area, Ranks with the best in this price level
