I have played this course in the 1960's, in the 80's, and now again today. Unfortunately a nice layout has been ruined by an obvious lack of funding by the City of Chula Vista. The fairways are bare, the tees are un-mowed, and the greens are marginal. They have recently added sand to the bunkers but all of them have not been raked in quite a long time. It is sad to see and hopefully the course will soon get some sorely needed funds for more maintenance workers and supples. The course could be great again with just a little more effort and back to its glory days of the last century. Oh, the staff in the pro shop were great!

I have played this course on a regular basis for 30 years. It is consistently more difficult than other courses in the area and a great test. Plenty of risk/reward...laid-out by local legend Billy Casper and two others in the early 60s and still worthy of his reputation. Amenities are lacking...but a terrific Men's Club. I still drive 35 miles each way a couple of times each month.

This course can be rough on beginners, or anyone who slices. Water is on the right side of of 6 of the first 8 holes. Bring some extra golf balls just in case...
