The six courses are: Hancock Golf Course, Jimmy Clay Golf Course, Joe Balander Golf Course, Roy Kizer Golf Course, Lions Golf Course, Morris Williams Golf Course.

Hancock Park Golf Course first opened for play in 1899. The course was designed by Lewis Hancock. What does this municipal course have in common with the prestigious Austin Country Club? The answer, Hancock Park Golf Course was the first site/first course of the Austin Country Club; the original course had sand greens and 18 holes.

Hancock Golf Course is the oldest golf course in the state of Texas. Located in the heart of Austin, the course is a challenging layout with numerous carries up and down hills and over Waller Creek, the creek that winds through the property. Hancock Golf Course is relatively short by modern standards, featuring small, well manicured greens that are typical of the era in which it was built.

The noted golf instructor, Harvey Penick, started his professional career at this location and remained with the Austin Country Club for over 70 years.

Par for Hancock Golf Course is 35. From the back tees the course plays to 2633 yards. From the forward tees the course measures 2427 yards. The longest hole on the course is # 2, a par-5 that plays to 462 yards. The shortest hole on the course is # 4, a par-3 that plays to 144 yards from the back tees.

Watch out for # 2, a 462 yard par-5 challenge and the #1 handicap hole on the course. The easiest hole is # 4, a 144 yard par-3.

Another place that Harvey Pennick used to teach. This course is real old and located right in a busy part of Austin. It gets a lot of traffic, but is great for a quick nine hole walk. You will only need a couple of clubs. Number 9 is a great hole.

Would travel: 0-10 Miles
Bottom line: I would play again
