Detailed description

The Olde Farm Golf Club is a Private, 18 hole golf course located in Bristol, Virginia.

The Olde Farm Golf Club golf course first opened for play in 2000. The course was designed by Robert Weed.

The Olde Farm features bent grass fairways, greens, and tees in a beautifully sculptured natural setting. The Clubhouse is patterned after Castle Hill, a 200-year-old historic home located in Charlottesville, Virginia. The Clubhouse is situated on the site of the area's first home, which was built between 1748 and 1788 in a grove of oak trees, two of which remain before the clubhouse to this day.

The Long Barn, formerly a working tobacco barn, serves as a watering hole and way station and is conveniently located in the middle of holes 6, 7, 13, 14 and 16.The Cottages on location accommodate a national membership of active influential men and women. Located next to the first tee and fairway, each room is exquisitely furnished offering luxurious accommodations, privacy, and state of the art technology.

Located on rolling hillsides high in the Appalachians, the Olde Farm Golf Club property, once a working farm, features dramatic vistas and every hole can be seen from the clubhouse. Sinking Creek winds through the site and enters play on seven holes either as a lateral hazard or across fairways.

The course enjoys an agrarian ambiance thanks to the retention of old barns from the previous farm operation. This is especially true of the Olde Farm's signature hole, the 6th, a 206-yard par-3. From the tee, golfers play over hay bales, and a refurbished barn closely borders the green on the right. Another interesting test is the 10th, a 439-yard par-4 guarded along the right by another barn.

Blossoms add to the beauty of the course and, throughout the summer, golfers can pick ripening berries. Pasture fencing from the old farm was also retained and incorporated into the layout.

In addition to energy industry (mostly coal mining) guys, the Olde Farm counts as members a sizable contingent from the "Naples mafia," as a certain well-heeled Florida crew is referred to here, as well as assorted figures associated with the Miami Dolphins' Marino as well as Don Shula, Bob Griese and Wayne Huizenga. Other sports types are part of the mix as well: NASCAR legend Dale Jarrett; San Diego Chargers coach Marty Schottenheimer; Washington Redskins coach Joe Gibbs; PGA Tour commissioner Tim Finchem; and Jack Nicklaus, Arnold Palmer, Gary Player, Loren Roberts and Lanny Wadkins from the pro ranks. Add a few Fortune 500 CEOs, Secretary of the Treasury John Snow and a number of golf-obsessed locals, and you have the ultimate guy's guy club.

The golf course at The Olde Farm Golf Club plays to a par-71 and maximum distance of 6,885 yards. The course rating is 73.4 and the slope rating is 127.
