Payne's Valley Golf Course is an 18 hole public golf course located in Hollister, Missouri. Dome might call it a 19 hole course as there is a 19th hole, a 125-yard par-3 that can be used to settle, or start, bets.
The course first opened for play in 2020. In actuality, 13 holes opened for play in 2019, Payne's Valley is the first public golf course designed by Tiger Woods.
Tiger designed the course to have here was wide playing areas where it was difficult to lose a ball. Payne’s Valley has 85 acres of fairways, which is exceptionally high, plus another 45 acres of short, non-penal rough, featuring a variety of grass specifically chosen to slow down and hold balls from running through.
In addition to generous landing areas, the course has amphitheater-style mounding around several green complexes which increases the odds of making a playable approach shot. Tiger wanted players to be able to putt from off the green, as is common in the British Isles, so there is little in the way of penal rough around putting surfaces.
With the exception of the dramatic island-green par-3, there are no real forced carries, but there are plenty of risk/reward opportunities tempting better players. If you're looking for more challenge the par-72 design plays to 7,400 yards from the tips and will give you all the challenges you can handle.
