Alapaha Golf Links, is a Public, 9 hole golf course located in Kingston, New York.
Alapaha Golf Links first opened for play in 1995. The course was designed by Stewart Kessman and Hal Purdy.
This scenic course is located in the beautiful Catskills. This is a links-style design that presents elevated tees and greens. The greens are large, and the fairways vary from wide open to narrow. In addition, water hazards (ponds) come into play on four holes.
Par for the course is 30. From the back tees the course plays to 1,685 yards. From the forward tees the course measures 1,483 yards. The longest hole on the course is # 6, a par-4 that plays to 320 yards. The shortest hole on the course is # 4, a par-3 that plays to 105 yards from the back tees.
Watch out for # 6, the 320 yard par-4 challenge is the #1 handicap hole on the course. The easiest hole at Alapaha Golf Links is # 1, a 110 yard par-3.
$10 (cart not included), played on Tuesday, June 2011 at noon
Alapaha is a perfect course, if you're interested in a quick round of golf on an "executive" course (6 par 3s, 3 par 4s), for a price that won't put a dent in your wallet. The owners are nice, with John being a very helpful and capable teaching pro. The greens and fairways are decent. There are starting to be some slight improvements to the look of the course (new tee markers this year), but some work is needed in the areas of the upkeep of the sandtraps, the tee boxes, ball washers and the look of the water collection areas.
