The Crystal Springs golf course first opened for play in 1991. The course was designed by Robert von Hagge. One of the hallmarks of a von Hagge course is sculpted mounds that frame the fairways and greens … giving definition to each hole while adding an intense contrast of color between the fairways and roughs.
Crystal Springs Golf Club is located on land that formerly was a limestone quarry. When operations ceased in 1929, the site filled with water, forming the many natural springs that now dot the property. The clear waters seen at what is now the 10th hole prompted the naming of the community, the golf course, and, ultimately, the Crystal Springs Resort.
Crystal Springs Golf Club is recognized as one of the finest golf facilities in the northeastern United States. When Crystal Springs opened in 1992, it was rated among the top 25 new golf courses in America by Golf Digest Magazine. The Jersey Golfer named Crystal Springs "The Best Public Golf Course" in New Jersey in its ranking of the state's best layouts. Year after year, Crystal Springs ranks among Golf Digest's top 10 list for public golf courses in New Jersey.
The Crystal Springs golf course measures 6,395 yards from the back tees. This par-72 layout has a course rating of 72.1 with a slope rating of 132.

First off it's a nice course, challenging and fun. However, staff has attitude. We arrived and they all ignored us. What's up with that? The pace is extremely slow, apparently the local regulars control everything and outsiders are not welcome, that's the vibe. We got a great deal on Golfnow so I'm not too upset but if we had paid regular rates I would be disappointed. My sons and I had a good outing so bottom line it's worth a try, you decide for yourself. I'm sure management can correct the attitude problem.

I played on Father's Day AM and my son and I were paired with another father son duo. I thought that teeing off at 0800 would assure a 4-4.5 hour round, but instead we ended up after 5 hours. Much too slow. at $100 per person, they should widen out the tee times to 10 minutes or more so that you could move faster. the 4some behind us were pushing us for 4 holes until we just told them to quit it as we were already on the trio ahead of us. Great, great course. VERY challenging, not just long but tricky lies throughout. If you just started playing, I would avoid this course unless you have a huge appetite for lost balls. I thought that I played this course before and rated it, but I think that it was actually Wild Turkey I was on.

the design of mounds to keep the ball in play, is bad, These areas don't get mowed, to many bad lies for good golf shots...silly

Play this course every weekend. Plays differently from each tee box. Very, very challenging...........can't just come out and hit the ball around at Crystal Springs or you'll be "Crystallized" by the back 9. Great view from #11...signature hole, par 3.

When we were there, we had a fousome and a twosome. There was no one behind us, so after 9 holes we joined up and played together. at the 16th hole, the starter send a runner and forced us to break up, even though there was still no one behind us. Talk about anal retentive! I understand the point if the course was crowded, but it wasn't, and further more, we had already played 7 holes together without incident. What was the harm in letting us finish the last holes together?

Beautiful golf course but extremely challenging for a weekend golfer. You must be in the fairway to have a good round and even on many parts of the fairway, you lie may be on some type of slope. For good golfers, it will be challenging and rewarding. The resort has five courses which offer a golfer different layouts/options...all great.
