Detailed description of Little Traverse Bay Golf Club

Little Traverse Bay Golf Club is a Public 18 hole golf course located in Harbor Springs, Michigan.

Little Traverse Bay Golf Club first opened for play in 1991. The course was designed by Jeff Gorney.

Little Traverse Bay Golf Clubprovides a clear view from twelve holes of Little Traverse Bay on Lake Michigan or several inland lakes. The large greens are undulating and well bunkered. The signature hole is #15, a 626-yard, par 5, featuring an elevated tee with one of the best views in the area. The thick rough defining the fairways is a mixture of different types of grasses. A water hazard only comes into play on only one hole.

Par for the course is 72. From the back tees the course plays to 6,895 yards. From the forward tees the course measures 5,061 yards. The longest hole on the course is # 15, a par-5 that plays to 626 yards. The shortest hole on the course is # 7, a par-3 that plays to 158 yards from the back tees.

Watch out for # 6, a 404 yard par-4 challenge and the #1 handicap hole on the course. The easiest hole at Little Traverse Bay Golf Club is # 10, a 195 yard par-3.

Wow. For the last 10 years, I have consistently told all of my friends, acquaintances, strangers...everyone to PLAY THIS COURSE. How can you not love this course? It has EVERYTHING you want. Lets talk first about "first tee jitters." Picture yourself walking up to a tee box at the edge of a mountain...the closer you get to the tee box, the more you start to wonder when you are actually going to be able to see the fairway down below it. It's a good 80 foot drop down to the ample landing area and it is actually a nice, easy starting hole...but it doesn't feel like that when you are perched up at the top of that cliff!!! And the course just keeps getting better and better. Sure, there are a few throwaway holes in the middle...but TRUST ME...you will have your camera out on at least 12 of the holes on this course. The cool part about it, is that they layout doesn't seem quirky. Everything about this course feels right. Get your golf buddies together and make the trip. You will not be disappointed. I love this place and will continue to get back up there whenever I can.

Would travel: 120-300 Miles, Vacation Worthy
Bottom line: I would play again, Ranks with the best in this price level, Best course in the area
