Mayfair Country Club is a Semi-Private, 18 hole golf course located in Sanford, Florida.
The city of Sanford bought 152 acres in 1922 and hired noted golf architect Donald Ross to design an 18 hole municipal golf course. The course opened in October of 1922 as the Sanford Country Club, with only 4 holes completed. In September 1924 the entire 18-hole course was opened
Mayfair is Sanford's only golf course and one of the very first courses built in Florida. Mayfair features an open layout that is perfect for novice players and experts alike. The challenge for golfers at Mayfair lie within the strategic layout and the clever positioning of hazards and trees. The fairways tend to be wider (typical of older course designs) however, the approaches are much less forgiving. Water comes into play on more than half of the 18 holes.
Par for the course is 72. From the back tees the course plays to 6,403 yards. From the foward tees the course plays to 5,007 yards and a par of 74. The longest hole on the course is # 18, a par-5 that plays to 516 yards. The shortest hole on the course is # 16, a par-3 that plays to 157 yards from the back tees.
Watch out for # 8, a 516 yard par-5 challenge and the #1 handicap hole on the course. The easiest hole at Mayfair Country Club is # 16, the157 yard par-3.

the overall condition of the course was terrible. I've played this course every year when I visit my sister and it seems to me that the conditions change every time I go there.

Golfer Beware! City of Sanford owns this course and recently hired Integrity Golf Services, LLC, . to run it. The previous management lessee died and the City initially stated that all memberships would be honored. However, on 10/23/13 members were "notified " via an unsigned, undated flyer available only at the pro shop that all memberships were being cancelled without cause, effective on 10/27/13. "Notified" on a Wednesday afternoon and cancelled on Sunday at 6PM. Less than 3 business days notice. Many members remain unaware that their membership is no longer honored and all members lost money -some had prepaid for several years. The City of Sanford via its management agent Integrity Golf Services,LLC. breached a contract with members with little notice and without cause. "Integrity " Golf, indeed. Watch out. You could be next.
