Died: Waterville, Maine, at age 76

Al was a caddie at the age of 10. In 1941, he graduated from Massachusetts State College. He served during World War II and earned the rank of Sgt. in the United States Air Force. During the war he was shot down over Germany and was a POW for 14 months.

After the war he returned home and pursued his lifelong ambition of designing and building golf courses. He was a member of the American Society of Golf Course Architects and he built many of the top-ranked courses in Connecticut.
