Detailed description

Stonebridge Golf Club is a Semi-Private, 18 hole golf course located in Martinsburg, West Virginia.

Stonebridge Golf Club first opened for play in 1922. The back nine was added in 1968. Originally named Opequon Golf Club, the property's limestone, Bungalow-Adirondack lodge-style clubhouse is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.

The terrain varies from flat to hilly. There are trees that can affect your shots, and water hazards come into play on more than half of the holes. Sand bunkers also come into play on seventeen holes.

The par-72 plays to a maximum distance of 6,253 yards.

The signature hole is #10, a 423-yard, par 4, which is very scenic and has large trees on the left and out-of-bounds on the right.

The course closed in 2013

The owners of Stonebridge Golf Club said they bought the 18-hole course east of Martinsburg as an investment and have no immediate plans to reopen the fairways and clubhouse to golfers.

The course was acquired it from United Bank in 2013 for $650,000 and subsequently, put it on the market.

The purchase was described as a speculative real-estate play. The golf course once again could open for play, but alternative development options are also possible
